Drama ensued on Thursday at the Kisumu High Court after a man facing murder charges jumped out of the dock and tore his case file.

The suspect Dennis Ombese Kebati who appeared before Judge Hillary Chemitei tried to escape after the incident but was arrested by the police.

Kebati destroyed the files claiming the hearing of his murder case was being delayed.

Kisumu East AP commander Karanja Muiruri said the suspect was arrested and is being remanded at Kodiaga prisons.

Kebati is facing a separate murder charge alongside two inmates Samson Matoke Machoka and Douglas Onyancha before Judge Chemitei.

They are accused of murdering the late Harrison Okumu on the evening of May 20.

The three are alleged to have committed the offence at the Kisumu Main Prison.

Okumu was in prison remand answering to charges of murdering two people and burying them in his compound.

He was accused of killing more than five people and burying them next to his house in Rabuor village in the outskirts of Kisumu City.

Okumu is said to have committed the offense between July 25 and 29, 2013 jointly with others where three bodies were found near his house.

The is said ti have attempted to commit suicide last year in December when he set himself ablaze inside his prison cell.

His case was being heard by High Court Judge lady Justice Esther Maina in Kisumu.

Okumu was buried in his parent’s home in Miguye village, Nyando sub county during an accession that was devoid of any ceremony or rites.

In May 27 during the appearance, Onyancha complained of being uncomfortable when he was moved from Kisumu Main prison to Kibos and requested for his personal belongings.

He told the court to help him get his chair and other things which he had left at Kibos Prison.

Machokha also asked to be left at Kisumu Main Prison at Kodiaga complaining Kibos Prison was not as comfortable insisting “we would rather remain in Kodiaga.”

But the prosecution insisted that the three suspects should be remanded at the Kibos Main prison in Kisumu County.
