East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) has asked parents to be more vigilant with their under age children in order to stop them from accessing alcoholic drinks.

The group corporate relations director of EABL Julie Adell said that there was need for parents to be more proactive and to not wait until their children engaged in alcoholism to punish them.

She added that it is because of the rising concerns over underage drinking that has led to the undertaking of a campaign dubbed ‘Under 18 asipewe’ to sensitise the community on the need for protecting children from alcohol.

She stated that EABL is also currently educating bar attenders on the same programme so that they stop children from accessing alcohol at social joints.

She was speaking in Siradumb village in Ugunja sub county on Sunday during the launch of a Kshs. 7.2 million water project by EABL.

On the same note, the Ugunja assistant sub county commissioner Faith Kandagor said that there was need for empowering the youth with regards to the dangers of engaging in the drinking of illicit liquor.
