Richard Miano an economist in Kamwangi has told Kiambu county government to focus seriously on small businesses to realize faster economic growth.

Speaking from Kamwangi on Friday, Miano wants the county to work fast towards formulating a policy that would bring on board small scale business players to first consolidate growth.

"The county leadership must strive to implement the small scale business demands to speed up the sourcing of funding by the small players," he said.

He revealed that he was not happy with the pace at which the wheels to better wealth minting for the people were spinning.

"As an economist, I expect a robust growth and broadly based economic growth, driven mainly by small business within a few years into the launch of the devolved Kiambu government," he said.

He pointed out that unemployment and poverty still afflicted a huge population in Kiambu emphasizing the need for the county government to accelerate access to the financial sector by a majority of the people.

"Young minds in business have globally been proven to have the lowest default rates. There is a need therefore, to make finances accessible by such young entrepreneurs to foster better and faster development projects," he said advising the county to reveal its 2016 year plans for small business persons.
