A suspect has been arrested by police after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death on Saturday morning.
The lady was a fourth-year student at Egerton University and succumbed to the injuries.
Witnesses say the man in his 20s tried to light up the room and burn himself, the lady and a child they had.
The incident took place at Njokerio, a market centre close to the varsity.
The man allegedly stabbed the lady including in her private parts using a kitchen knife. The suspect is a butcher in a local meat outlet.
Villagers and students stormed the suspect's house and attacked him.
The Police said investigations will be carried out to establish the cause of the incident.
Bodies of the two were taken to Egerton mortuary.
