Majengo youths in Hospital Ward, Thika Town sub-county have been asked to embrace the culture of hard work instead of idling around.

Speaking in the area on Monday, area MCA Mwangi Wamwangi said many youths in the area were spending most of their time at miraa kiosks engaging in idle talk.

"This is not the way to go for those who care about their future. The Sh100 that you spend on miraa can be used to buy say a packet of sweets which would bring you an extra Sh50. Don't lazy around and blame it on unemployment," said Wamwangi.

The ward representative also asked the youths to stop being selective on jobs saying they should take the available ones as they await for bigger opportunities.

"Youths are coming all the way from Murang'a, Nyeri and from other parts of this county to take up various opportunities that youths in this area have rejected. Let us not be selective," he added.

He noted that there were opportunities in building construction, factories as well as in jua kali sectors or even in starting individual small businesses yet many youth had not embraced them.
