Traders in Kibera have in the recent days developed a habit of avoiding revenue payment in the market due to what they term as customer shortage.
on Sunday at DC market, Kibera a banana hawker escaped when he realised the revenue collecting officer approaching him to give him a receipt to pay daily revenue for operating the business in the market. He decided to abandon his wheelbarrow which he uses to carry ripe bananas.
it has now become a habit of hawkers in the market to stop paying daily tax for their business operations in the market.
A spot check in the market shows that there is a shortage of customers as many traders are incurring losses because many of their commodities get spoiled and they are forced to throw them in dumping sites in the market.
