A section of Kaptembwa Residents in Nakuru Town West sub county have called upon the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to extend voter registration for them to register.

Speaking on Saturday, the residents said the exercise risks locking out potential voters should it end on March 15 as planned.

They added that the operating time of the commission from 8am-5pm in weekdays was not favoring them either.

"Some of us leave for work long before the stations are opened and come back when they are already shut. We may miss out should the closing date be maintained because we have got no time," admitted James Amisi a resident.

His sentiments were echoed by Albert Kamau Ngigi who said that the March 15 deadline would lock out several people including college students who are still on session.

"They should extend the exercise by at least a month," he advised.

The voting exercise which began on February 15 has since netted a paltry 35% new voters in the county according to the latest statistics by IEBC with barely two weeks to the end of it.
