French Ambassador to Kenya Remi Marechaux has called for concerted efforts in the fight against terror.

Speaking on Thursday at Moi University while offering scholarship to Garissa University students who survived the terror attack in April, Mr Marechoux said the fight against terrorism is primarily the responsibility.

He however, said governments need the support of citizens to effectively fight terrorism.

“Security services should be provided by the government but for the government to dispense this role, it requires the collective responsibility of all citizens," he said.

He said the greatest challenge against terror that governments are facing is the consistent radicalisation of youth.

The ambassador used the occasion to give out scholarships to selected students who survived the terror attack in Garissa.

“The radicals do not belong to any religion. No religion condones taking away someones life,” said the ambassador.

The scholarship were given out following a promise by the French government in April that the government would provide full scholarships to survivors of the Garissa attack.

The scholarships comprise Sh50,000 for tuition fee and Sh100,000 for the upkeep of every student.
