The first talent academy in the country will be built in Mombasa to nurture and develop those gifted in various areas, says president Uhuru.
Speaking at State House Mombasa on Wednesday during a question and answer session with over 600 young people from the Coast region, President Uhuru Kenyatta said the talent academy will be built to help nurture talent in the region.
“One of the things we have as a country is very talented young men and women.we need to nurture these talents,” said President Uhuru.
He further added that other centres will be built in other counties later on, so as to also help nurture talent in those areas.
Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki who was also present, said the government has lined up various programmes to empower the youth. She urged them seek more information so as to benefit from the government programmes.
The 610 young men and women were from Mombasa, Lamu, Kilifi, Tana River, Kwale and Taita Taveta, the six counties of the Coast region.
