Four people were on Sunday injured in a road accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway in Athi River Sub-County.
The accident occurred at Sabaki area, a few metres from the Mombasa Cement Company, after a trailer belonging to TSS Transporters Limited hit a car belonging to Fair Ride Travel company.
Jerald Muchili, an eye witness, said the taxi was heading to Mombasa Road from Sabaki Estate in Athi River when the accident ocurred.
Muchili said the car's driver gained entry into the highway without checking whether the road was clear, but on noticing the trailer was approaching, he panicked and stopped abruptly in middle of the road, prompting the trailer to ram into it.
"The driver of the trailer tried to change lanes to avoid hitting the car but there were vehicles on the alternative lane thus he was forced to hit the car," said Muchili.
The victims who included the drivers of both vehicles, the trailer's turn boy and a second occupant of the car were taken to Shalom Community Hospital in Athi River Town.
The vehicles were towed to Athi River Police Station.
