For the fifth time, the Energy and Regulatory Commission (ERC) has reduced the price of fuel in the market consecutively.

According to the new ERC rates, super petrol will go down by sh2.14 per litre. Diesel fuel too will be lowered by sh8.82 a litre while kerosene will be lowered by sh6.51 per litre.

The new prices are set to be effective from today, Monday 15, January 2016. The offer, however, will run for only a month as the ERC will review the prices on  March 14, 2016, in Nairobi.

Super and Diesel will be sold at sh86.50 and sh67.88 per litre, respectively. Kerosene customers have a reason to smile since it will be sold at sh39.

Joseph Ng’ang’a, the director general of ERC said that the new prices have been brought about by the average landed cost of imported Super petrol. The cost of imported super petrol is said to have decreased by 4.22% since December last year to January this year.

Diesel, on the other hand, has reduced by 21.80% and kerosene by 20.23%.

As the new prices take effect, the ERC has warned the sellers not to sell the fuel above the said set amount.
