Women and youth have proved to be the core drivers of the economy in the modern world and have disapproved their critics in terms of making the society a better place.

This is according to Gilgil Member of Parliament Jane Ngugi who said that the present will never achieve its development targets if women and youth were not included in the development agendas.

She further said that gone were the days when women were only seen to be good at domestic labour and were never allowed to make any important decisions.

"I feel proud when I am in the company of other female leaders engaged in different projects, it’s a living testimony of how the woman can transform the society if given equal opportunities as men," she said.

“It’s not about man or woman, it’s about how best the few of us in leadership dockets will hold the rest and encourage them to follow the right path for a successful future, a future that will not ignore the two third gender rule, one that will give equal opportunities to all of us based on service delivery and experience,” she said.

She was speaking on Saturday after she joined assembly Speaker Susan Kihika in Naivasha in her Christmas sharing programme.
