Dr Belio Kipsang, the Principal Secretary Ministry of Education, will today (Monday) hand over digital content to consortiums of Moi University and JP SA Couto, JKUAT and POSITIVO GBH for installation in learner and teacher digital devices for proof of concept.

The event will take place at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development.

The digital content will be installed at the device assembly factory in the Leaner Digital Device (LDD), Teacher Digital Device (TDD) and Special Needs Education Leaner Digital Device (Sneldd).

These devices will be used in 150 public primary schools during the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Proof of Concept that is on going.

Phase One will be rolled out to 11,000 public primary school and in Phase Two another 11,000 schools.

The digital content is delivered across all operating systems and any computing device.

According to KICD, the DLP curriculum delivery system includes a Digital Content Wireless Server and Router (DCWSR) that will be installed with content in all classrooms.

The DCWSR will be loaded with upgrades of content including quality assured online content from publishers and content innovators.

The DLP is much more than computing devices in schools. It is about enabling education delivery, access and equity across the Country.

The ministry through KICD will quality assure online instructional materials, roll out an online orange book and the Kenya Education Cloud where approved materials from publishers and other content creators will be accessed.

This will ensure no content creator is locked out and that our learners in primary and secondary levels access curriculum relevant content.
