Nyamira governor John Nyagarama has rubbished claims that he had links with a company that had allegedly obtained more than 30% of county tenders.
This comes as yet another possible scandal looms with a section of youth group led by Nyambega Gisesa revealed their plans to seek answers to governor’s linkage with Mater Piece Limited Company.
According to the group led by Nyambega, the company had won over 30% of county tenders raising questions about its ownership.
However, Nyagarama who was addressing a group of residents in his West Mugirango bedrock said the allegations were strange since he never sat in any tendering committee.
“I think some people are being petty. I have never sat in any tendering committee so I can’t talk about the allegations in depth. I don’t know the company neither can I ascertain whether they have been receiving many tenders in the county,” he said.
The county boss said the youth faction was out to taint his name and urged them to follow the right channel to have the matter investigated.
“If the claims are true, I am also interested to know whether tendering regulations are adhered to because we have to crack a whip on culprits. They should launch a petition with the executive and the county assembly so that we investigate the mentioned company because that isn’t a light issue,” he added.
He said his government was committed in fighting corruption and urged area residents to support his initiatives to de-whip corrupt individuals.
“We have to fight corruption. And if the youths have raised that alarm, we ought to make a follow up and know the truth. I once against reiterate that I am strange to the allegations,” he added.
