Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama on Tuesday afternoon officially launched the county's vision 2020 dubbed, 'The Nyamira We Want Vision 2020'.
The Nyamiravision is the county's development programme covering the period 2016 to 2020, and its objective is to help transform the county into a middle-income county providing a high quality of life to all its citizens by 2020.
"We have embarked on revision and evaluation of the County Integrated Development Plan to realign our emerging priorities. This will give birth to Nyamira Vision 2020. On top of that, all departments have come up with their Annual Work Plan to guide prudent utilization of our meagre resources," the governor said during the launch.
Transport, health, education, agriculture, land, ICT and energy are some of the sectors envisioned to improve in the four years.
Under education, the Nyamira We Want Vision 2020 aims to build and equip a state of the art university currently on its final phase of paper work according to the governor.
"Nyamira County recognises the role of education in the 21st century. To this end, we are on the final phase of paper work that will give way to the establishment of Kiabonyoru State University. In order to make the university a state of the art institution, we are planning to improve some basic infrastructure," he affirmed.
Nyagarama asserted that his administration anticipates to create a corrupt-free government by continuing to run a honest and transparent government, with public services that are open and accountable to the people over that period.
The governor officially launched the county's vision during the official opening of the Nyamira County Assembly 4th Session.
