Speaking on Saturday after commissioning a new dining hall cum multi-purpose hall at Cheptuech Boys High School in Kuresoi South, the Bomet County boss slammed leaders who are too preoccupied in petty politics at the expense of development.

"Politics is about service delivery, not empty promises. Once you get the chance to lead people, strive at leaving an unforgettable impact which can only be achieved by initiating development projects," he said.

He regretted the deteriorating standards of education in the country, a trend he attributed to uncommitted and selfish leaders.

"The problem is with our young leaders who come into politics with the aim of enriching themselves. This perception must end or we are raising a very bad crop of leaders," Ruto noted.

The multipurpose hall will serve the larger Kuresoi South Constituency in hosting schools and colleges drama festivals.
