Members of Saccos from the Gusii region have been challenged to embrace a saving culture to strengthen their societies' investment capital.
Kisii county commissioner of cooperatives Vincent Kenyariri has told Sacco members on the importance of mobilizing their internal capital resources instead of relying on external borrowing sources.
The commissioner also encouraged Sacco members to buy their Saccos shares to enable to them to not only earn dividends but to also give them a right of ownership to their Saccos' investments.
"I encourage Sacco members to buy shares in their Saccos as part of investment and enjoyment of ownership of their Saccos' investments," stated Kenyariri.
Kenyariri observed that having majority of the Sacco members owning shares in their societies not only earned individual members dividends but also strengthened their Saccos' capital bases.
