Hawkers in Nakuru county have decried the continued vandalism of their kiosks by people they claim are well known .
Nakuru hawkers and street traders association chairman Simon Ole Nasieku said that the stalls are being vandalised at night when the hawkers have left and called on county government to ensure the stalls are protected.
Speaking Thursday at Nakuru town, Nasieku said that a group of youth are moving around town at night, taking iron sheets and metal doors from the stalls.
"You can see for yourself how they have caused a huge damage here. All these stalls have been vandalised and they have no roofs and doors," said Nasieku.
"There is a group of young men who come around at night to vandalise the stalls and transport the metals to where they know," he added.
Nasieku added that a good number of hawkers have been left with nowhere to operate from after their stalls were carried by unkown people.
'This place was filled by people but they have since left because they cannot operate under the sun. The county government must deploy security here to guard the stalls at night to avoid further vandalism," he said.
