Cases of senior officers assaulting junior officers is not new to us Kenyans, from the case of Nancy Baraza humiliating a gatekeeper to the governor of Nairobi, Evans Kidero slapping a woman in full view of the public.
A member of parliament once assaulted a traffic officer along Nairobi-Eldoret highway and now a video, which has already gone virus, is being circulated in the social media showing a white pilot assaulting a junior policewoman.
There is a difference between embarrassment and humiliation. While the former is a bit fair means of correction, the latter is a worse means of venting out your anger on somebody even if he or she wronged you.
Humiliating someone in public is the highest form of disrespect. It shows you do not value the dignity of that person.
Such humiliation has dire consequences on the victim which include depression, low self-esteem and even suicide.
What the pilot did further proves to us that senior officials are not afraid to override the law. It is a shame!
