Menengai West MCA Lucy Kihumba has said she has to come to terms with the arsonic attack at her home two months ago, although she says it still pains her when she imagines of the value of the property she lost.
Speaking after hosting a high profile county government delegation including governor Kinuthia Mbugua at her home during a harambee, she painfully stated that she had forgiven those who were behind the attack, adding that she was committed to delivering her campaign pledges to the people of Menengai West ward.
She said the attack was meant to distract her development agenda and drag her name into petty politics but remained firm that everything was on course.
“I thank God for giving me strength during that trying moment because it made me stronger and prayerful. I already forgave the masterminds of the attack and left everything to the police,” she said, amid tears.
Ms Kihumba further thanked her ward members for the moral and material support they accorded her since the incident, saying they had proven to be more that brothers and sisters.
“I confidently stand here today because of my people, they have been there for me during all my predicaments and have shown that they have faith in me, all I promise to do is to be a good leader and make your lives better,” she added.
During the attack, she lost property estimated to be worth Sh50 million, including her residential house, official car and other household items.
