Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has called on Kiambu governor William Kabogo to step down over poor performance by his county government.

Ichung’wa who was speaking to Kikuyu residents at Kamandura grounds Thursday said the governor had failed to lead the county and should therefore step down before he is forced to in 2017.

He claimed that the governor was not being fair in terms of distribution of resources hence unfit to lead the county.

He revealed that come 2017, there will be an 'operation kick Kabogo out' of gubernatorial seat.

Ichung'wa said he will support someone who can develop the whole county.

He called on Kikuyu residents to vote out the governor come 2017 general election if he doesn’t consider stepping down.

"We want to tell Kabogo to step aside before we send him home come 2017. He has failed to lead Kiambu and he should step down in advance before next year," said Ichung'wa.

He said Kabogo had totally looked down upon leaders from other areas and therefore should not be a leader.

Ichung’wa urged Kikuyu residents, especially the youth, to apply for national identification cards in time in preparation for next year's general election.
