Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma is fighting off the Jubilee tag and declared that he is a life member of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

Ranguma said he has been linked to Jubilee by his opponents who are keen to edge him out of the gubernatorial seat in 2017 election.

He said his woes stem from the frequent visit to Kisumu by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He said that he has an obligation as the governor to welcome the president whenever he visits the county and that should not be misconstrued that he is leaning towards Jubilee administration.

“I am not in Jubilee, I am in ODM and I have been there for many years even before some of you were born,” he said.

Speaking on Thursday to ODM party national officials who paid him a courtesy call at his office led by MPs Opiyo Wandayi of Ugunja and Busia women representative Florence Mutua, Ranguma announced that the president is making another trip to Kisumu in February and he will host him.

“I will not stop hosting the president, he is again coming here in Kisumu to officiate some state functions, I will welcome him,” he said.

Wandayi who is the party director of political affairs said the President is free to visit any county in the country but must be treated as a visiting head of state.

He said days when head of states were giving goodies whenever they visit regions are gone with the advent of the new constitution that brought devolution.

Mutua questioned why President Kenyatta is frequenting visits to Kisumu and Mombasa counties.

“Why only visit these two counties, why not other counties,” asked Mutua.
