Asian investors based in Juja Sub-County have partnered with the Juja CDF office to rehabilitate roads in the area.

Speaking in Juja Town on Wednesday, Juja MP Francis Munyua lauded the move adding that the county government of Kiambu has been reluctant in renovating the roads.

“I have had a tough time in explaining to residents that these roads are not under my jurisdiction. The county government should come out and renovate its roads. My office is also determined to see to it that all roads in the constituency are in good condition,” he said.

Mr Lagan Dass, one of the investors, said he decided to chip in and support the rehabilitation of the roads in Juja following the heavy rains that rendered the roads impassable, thus inconveniencing his operations.

“Being a businessman in Juja, there is need to have better infrastructure to enable us deliver our goods and products to clients easily. We have been experiencing a lot of challenges, but we will overcome them once we rehabilitate our roads,” said Dass.

The main roads set to be rehabilitated include Mirimaini (Juja Ward), Muigai-ini (Kalimoni Ward) and Kiahuria (Witeithie ward).

The MP said more renovations should be expected soon as the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has confirmed having received their tenders and funds.

Suada Abdirahman, an investor, said Juja residents had welcomed them in the area by promoting their businesses, adding that partnering with the CDF office to rehabilitate roads in the area was his way of giving back to the society.

Meanwhile, the Juja CDF committee held elections, with Alice Wambui taking over the as the committee’s chair.

Munyua said that they had to change the leadership as the residents have been complaining of unequal distribution of constituency resources.

He added that he has trust in the new management as he intends to serve residents without favour.

He called on members of the public to report cases of bias in the allocation of CDF funds.
