President Uhuru Kenyatta has met leaders from five Maa-speaking counties where campaign pledges implementation by the government was the top agenda.
The president affirmed the government’s commitment to equitable development in all regions regardless of political affiliations.
Kenyatta, who met the leaders at State House, Nairobi on Wednesday said all Kenyans are entitled to quality service by both levels of government.
The leaders from Samburu, Narok, Kajiado, Laikipia and Marsabit counties presented the President with a memorandum through Kajiado Senator Eng Peter Ole Mositet.
In the memorandum, the leaders who included members of parliament and senators identified priority development projects which they wanted the national government to implement.
The leaders singled out the construction of mega dams and water pans as some of the priority projects in the semi-arid counties to ease conflicts prompted by scarce resources.
They thanked the President for giving them a hearing and resolved to work with the government to realise its development agenda. The meeting was attended by Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and leader of Majority in Parliament Aden Duale
