Kiambu county commissioner Mr. Alex Nkoyo has assured candidates sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations of adequate security.
Speaking to this writer on Sunday, Nkoyo said that adequate security will be provided ahead of the KCSE exams scheduled to start tomorrow.
The Kiambu commissioner stated that they are working with the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) officials and the Ministry of Education to ensure security.
“We want to assure KCPE candidates that their security has been guaranteed as they start their exams on Tuesday,” he said.
He further warned members of the public operating businesses near schools against unnecessary noise saying that action will be taken against people found causing or making noise near examination centers.
Over 900, 000 candidates countrywide are expected to sit for the KCPE exams.
This comes as the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) says that proper mechanisms have been put in place to ensure success of the exams. The examination council has also cautioned students against cheating.
On the same note, the KNEC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Joseph Kivilu has also cautioned exam supervisors against leaking exams saying that appropriate action will be taken against those caught. Mr. Kivilu also said that adequate security will be provided to all the 25,000 exam centers to curb cases of leakage.
