Kiambu motorists have been urged to attend a sensitisation forum on road safety organised by the Kiambu traffic department on Saturday.

Speaking in his office on Friday, Kiambu Traffic Base Commander Gabriel Mulei said that the session was organised to sensitize motorists on observing traffic rules ahead of the busy festive season.

"Over the past few weeks the traffic department in Kiambu has been conducting crackdowns on different routes and we have arrested several motorists for flouting different traffic rules," he said.

He said that due to the increased disregard of traffic rules, they aimed at ensuring motorists are aware of traffic rules to avoid accidents.

"The main problem we are facing from motorists in the area is overspeeding and overloading," he revealed.

Mulei said these issues needed to be addressed promptly saying they are a major cause of road carnage.

"We are calling on motorists to come tomorrow from 12 noon to 1.30pm and get to know what we expect from you as road users to avoid colliding with the police and also causing accidents," said Mulei.

He said that the session will take place in Kirigiti Chief's ground where motorists will also ask questions where they feel they need assistance.
