Kiambu OCPD Stephen Nge’tich has put drug peddlers in the area on notice, saying they will be dealt with accordingly.
Speaking to journalists in his office on Sunday, the OCPD said cases of drug peddling have been reported in several parts of Kiambu.
He said police are on high alert and will not hesitate to arrest anyone found peddling drugs.
“We have in the recent past intercepted several cases of bhang peddling and we are putting peddlers on notice as their criminal acts will not be tolerated,” he said.
He said police will mount crackdowns in areas they perceive to be housing drug peddlers.
Mr Ng’etich called on the support of members of the public in the fight against drugs and illicit brew.
He said locals can help the police by giving information about suspected drug peddlers.
The OCPD on the same note asked local chiefs and administrators to crackdown on people who might have gone back to brewing and selling illicit brew in the area.
This comes after police recovered 300 litres of illicit brew at Kiambiu trading centre in Ndumberi on Sunday.
According to the police, the illicit brew was being ferried from Nairobi’s Mathare slums to Ndumberi in Kiambu.
