A Member of Kiambu County Assembly has promised that he will help prisoners serving short jail terms acquire Identity cards.
Speaking in Thika Main and Women Prison on Tuesday, Hospital ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi said that there are prisoners serving short jail terms who have no IDs.
"Those serving short terms and have no IDs and voter's card should be given," Wamwangi said.He said that he will ensure the registrar of persons in Thika send officials to the Prison to ensure they acquire ID cards ahead of the 2017 poll.
"I have been working with other leaders to ensure youth register to have IDs and voter's card,"
The MCA also said there is a need to have ex-prisoners trained on various things to help them re-integrate into society.
