The Kibera MP, Ken Okoth today morning asked youths to take the biometric youth registration seriously in the area.
The registration exercise which will be conducted by the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs and the National Youth Service (NYS) set to take place in February. All youths in the area have been urged to register starting Thursday 28, 2016 2016 from 8.00am in all constituencies. The program will run for five days.
The exercise is meant to facilitate easier operations through technology in light of the expanding nature of the program. It is also meant to weed out ghost cohorts, ensure the integrity of payroll and make it easier for NYS officers to monitor work attendance through key-in technology once the youth empowerment program is reinstated.
All community youths who were formerly working under the NYS Youth Empowerment Program and who wish to continue with their national building duties are requested to present themselves at designated areas of registration with their IDs.
The NYS project was essential in Kibera. It not only cleaned the slum but offered employment to youths. This improved their income.
