Kibera residents have expressed anger on the gambling games among the youths in the slum.

One resident of Lindi village, Erastus Nekesa on Wednesday evening said that gambling is not good, especially for school going children.

''Gambling is becoming popular in Kibera. As parents, we are worried our children will get lost. The county government with the help of chiefs, elders and the Nyumba Kumi leaders should come up with measures to ensure our children focus on constructive activities instead of gambling in the slums,'' said Nekesa.

He urged youths to embark on legal activities rather than gambling which is illegal.

“Youths who gamble have turned into thieves within the slums of Kibera just because they want to get money. This is becoming a threat to Kibera as residents we fear our children will drop out of school,” stated Nekesa.

He added that gambling has increased idlers in the slums and suggested that idlers should be investigated.
