Transport was on Saturday paralysed at Kichauri-Omoyo road in Borabu constituency, Nyamira county after area residents demonstrated over poor state of the road.
Bodaboda operators who use the road lamented over the poor state of the road network that has been rendered impassible especially during this season of heavy rains season.
According to the chairman of the boda boda operators in the area, Thomas Arumba blamed the area leadership for not constructing the road yet it connected them to the main roads in the county.
“Our grievances over the poor state of our roads in the constituency have not been taken seriously by the county government. We therefore ask the MP to come out and construct the road,” said Arumba.
An incident that angered the motorists even more is when a woman delivered at the road on her way to the hospital because of the delays due to the impassable road.
“A woman delivered at this road on her way to hospital because of the delays. The motorbike carrying her could not pass and even the car that had come to take her to hospital got stuck due to heavy rains that had rained on that night,” disclosed John Okemwa, a resident in the area.
When this Hivisasa writer contacted the area MP Ben Momanyi for a comment, he said that the road would be constructed after the ongoing rains subsided.
"I'm aware that the road is in a dilapidated state because I also use it. Let us be patient, the roads among other roads will be constructed as soon as the rains pounding the area subside," he said.
