The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has been blocked by the High court from checking the Nairobi Governor Kideros’ bank account together with those of his wife, Susan Mboya.
According to the EACC, Kidero faces many corruption cases and, therefore, his accounts together with those of his wife need to be investigated.
The high court, however, blocked the EACC temporarily from investigating the accounts after Kidero argued that the obtaining of the investigation warranty from the Makadara Law courts by EACC was illegal. Kidero and his wife said they were not notified by the EACC or the law court about the planned investigations.
According to the two, EACC wants to carry out duties unconstitutionally. They argued that the move was meant to oppress them.
Kidero has appeared in the news of late quite a lot for various scandals like the bribery of Justice Philip Tunoi, the collapse of Mumias Sugar factory 650 million from the company.
A Kibera resident, Bramwel Otieno from Kamukunji, Kibera said the governor should allow investigations to proceed as it is the only way he will prove to the law and the people of Kenya that he is innocent.
