Kikuyu OCPD Matune Maweu has vowed to crackdown on criminal gangs causing havoc in some parts of the area.

Addressing journalists on Friday at Kikuyu Town, Maweu said police will not tolerate criminal acts and gangs.

The OCPD said that appropriate mechanisms have been put in place including frequent patrols and surveillance to crackdown on criminal gangs.

“We are warning criminal gangs that their days are numbered and as law enforcers, we will hunt them down,” said Maweu.

The Kikuyu OCPD stated that police are investigating a wave of criminal acts that have been reported by a section of locals.

He said law enforcers in the area will remain alert and comb all areas to get rid of criminals.

The OCPD at the same time cautioned residents who collude with criminals saying they too will be arrested.

He said that harbouring criminals is a criminal offense and any one found aiding crime will be arrested.

Meanwhile, Maweu has urged chiefs in the sub-county to sensitise the locals on Nyumba Kumi in an effort to contain criminal acts in the area.

The OCPD said that local chiefs have been given the role of educating locals on Nyumba Kumi and must strive to ensure that residents embrace the security initiative.

He stated that crime rates will drastically go down if members of the public are sensitised on the importance of the initiative.
