Bodaboda and taxi operators at Kirigiti trading centre in Kiambu constituency have urged the government to construct a parking bay for them.

Speaking to this writer on Monday, the operators said that they have no place to park their bikes and vehicles.

The operators said that construction of a parking bay will boost their business as they will not waste a lot of time looking for parking space.

“We are appealing to the Kiambu County government to construct parking bays for us so as to avoid inconveniences,” said Joseph Kamau, a bodaboda operator.

The operators said that they were promised parking bays and sheds by the county government, but the promises are yet to bear fruits.

The operators asked their area Member of Parliament (MP) Jude Njomo to intervene in the matter and ensure a parking bay is constructed for them.

The operators also asked the county government to push for road repairs in the area, saying that majority of the roads are in a deplorable state.

“Our business is going down due to poor roads and the government should look into this matter and start renovations,” said Simon Kimani, a bodaboda rider.

Speaking in Kanunga on Sunday, Kiambu Township MP Jude Njomo assured residents that repair and renovation of all roads has started.

Njomo said that he will push for development projects including road renovations in the constituency.

The Kiambu lawmaker also assured bodaboda and taxi operators that sheds and parking bays will be constructed in every trading centre within the constituency.
