Ford-Kenya officials from Kisii County have described as political mischief the possibility of Senate minority leader Moses Wetangula's name being struck off the voter's register.

Led by the Party's Kisii County Secretary, Thomas Nyabote Aburi, the officials questioned the motive of reviving the case against Wetang'ula, saying he was cleared and allowed to participate in the 2013 by-election in which he re-captured his senate seat.

Addressing the press in Kisii town, Aburi warned Jubilee leaders against what he termed as returning the country to the dark days of intolerance to dissent.

"As Ford-Kenya officials from Kisii County, we are expressing our solidarity with other Kenyans and demand to know when the investigations on the case were conducted afresh and if so, was Wetang'ula given his right to be heard. If these questions and others will not be addressed, then this case is a political witch-hunt against Wetang'ula given his push for the impeachment motion against President Uhuru Kenyatta," said Aburi.

Aburi claimed that the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is being used to settle political scores by the government against perceived political opponents, especially from the opposition.

His sentiments come immediately after the Senate speaker, Ekwe Ethuro, finally gazetted the Supreme Court verdict, finding the Senator culpable of an electoral offence in 2013.
