Women leaders in Kisumu County have announced that they will work as a team for the benefit of the county residents.
Kisumu deputy governor Ruth Odinga said women have been fighting themselves in the county.
“Kisumu County has been in the media in the past for the wrong reasons. Women have been battling fellow women in leadership,” she said.
Odinga said women have resolved to shun cheap politics that divides them and keep away from men who continue to incite them against each other.
Speaking in Kisumu on Monday during a meeting organised by the Network of Women Governors, Odinga said peace is necessary in the county.
She said with the new found unity among women leaders, Kisumu County will be propelled in terms of development.
“Women have the capacity to bring real change that is required by the people but this will be done if there is unity among the women,” she said.
Omino said preliminary investigations indicate that men are using women to cause discomfort among them.
She noted that the public will benefit as a result of the unity, noting that if leaders are divided then it is the public that suffer due to lack of development.
