Wareng Knut Branch Secretary General John Boor has applauded the move by the Ministry of Education to suspend opening of satellite campuses.
Boor term the move orderly and a reprieve to the education sector.
He said on Thursday that opening of many satellite campuses has compromised the quality of education in the country.
"It's sad that you find a university has opened many constituent colleges which have no facilities, tutors and also lack teaching and learning materials. In some campuses, students are not taught for even one term and yet they have paid full fees," he said.
On Tuesday, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i directed the Commission for University Education (CUE) to suspend issuing permits to universities to open satellite campus across the country until further notice.
