Traders in Komarock area in Matungulu sub county have complained over lack of security lights in the market. The traders claimed that crime has intensified in the area due to the absence of street lights.
The traders in the market claimed that the area is not secure and they are therefore forced to close down their busineses and head home for fear of being mugged or their shops broken into.
"This place isn't safe especially in the evening since it means that it is the beginning of crime", said Joseph Mwilu, a bodaboda operator from the area.
"Cases of shops being broken into have been reported lately. This town is developing but it lacks security lights thus making it a potential spot for thieves," said Jane Mwende, a shopkeeper in the area.
The residents also blamed lack of a nearby police station in the area for the rise of the cases of crime witnessed in the area.
