Former ODM National Chairman Henry Kosgey has officially declared that he will run for Nandi County governor post in 2017 general election.
Kosgey made the announcement when he attended a church service at Lelwak Catholic Church on Sunday.
He said his decision was informed by calls by the residents to go for the county's top job.
He said he is the best candidate for the job since he is a veteran politician, amid cheers.
“I have been requested to declare my stand on the elective post, and after consultation have decided to contest as governor for the county in the next general election,” he said.
He promised to serve Nandi residents with respect.
He also vowed to ensure resources in the county are adequately utilised for the benefit of all.
He will however face competition from incumbent Governor Cleophas Lagat and former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Felix Koskei.
