The Kenya Railways is relocating families living along the railway line in a bid to curb accidents and protect its land.

KR has build houses in different places within Kibera for the programme, with Soweto East residents being among the first to be moved.

However, residents who are yet to be moved have complained that their names are missing from the list they filled for the houses.

Those registered as landlords have also had their story changed after the railways officials said the structure owners will not be given houses but instead will be compensated.

Omollo Motali, a landlord said he is worried since he will not be allocated a house.

On Thursday, the residents who had complaints channelled them to the Jamuhuri KR offices at 42 in Kibera.

Some of them were attended while the rest will have a chance on Friday to present their complaints.

“The Kenya Railway Company wants to curb the accidents along railway lines, that is why the company wants people evacuated along the lines,” said Omollo.
