Kuppet National Treasurer Mr Mwethi Njenga said the Jubilee government has been ignoring teachers despite voting for the ruling coalition overwhelmingly in 2013.

"We are sending a message to the Jubilee government, it's time they addressed our salary increment issue or we elect leaders of our own who will address our problems without politicising them," he said.

He said if the on going negotiations on salary increment with the government will not bear fruits, Kuppet will be forced to find alternative ways of solving teachers' problems.

He said the union will field a presidential candidate in 2017 polls if the government fails to honour the 50-60 per cent pay hike.
