A teacher's union official in Kisumu County said Monday they will resist any attempts to render or make school principals unionless.
The Teachers Service Commission has proposed the removal of school heads and their deputies from union membership on the basis that they are in management and should not be unionisable.
However, the Kenya Union of Post primary Education Teachers Kisumu branch chairman Zablon Awange said they will not allow such a move because most principals are officials of the union and its within their right.
“TSC is emasculating unions by failing to remit their dues, vetting teachers in unions and now attempting to deregister principals,” he said in Kisumu.
Awange said they shall resist such attempts to kill unions and warned the teacher’s employer to tread carefully on the matter.
