Residents of Mungetho village in Kuresoi North have penned down a list of grievances ahead of a two-day visit by Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua starting Wednesday.
Dedan Kahuthu said among the issues they want Mbugua to address during his sub-county outreach programme is cattle rustling and the renovation of Kanjugu-Kamwaura Road.
“Poor road network is a key issue that the governor must address tomorrow because we have a lot of agricultural produce here but transport to markets is another story altogether. Cattle rustling is another problem that has dealt a blow to us especially to those who keep livestock and use them for trade,” he said.
Peninah Wanja stated that the area has lagged behind in infrastructural development which has hurt its economy.
“Our biggest problem here is poor road network. Personally, I am a dairy farmer and I have to use a bicycle to take the milk very far where a lorry picks it every morning and there are other people who gave up on farming because there is no way to transport the produce,” she said.
Governor Mbugua is expected to address these concerns in his newly formed satellite office where his administration serves residents in a particular area in tents and he gets to interact with them on a one–on-one basis.
