Traders operating along the Laini Saba area Kibera say the ongoing heavy rains are causing them great losses.

The traders say customers are shying away from the market due to the rains.

“People no longer come to buy goods due to the heavy rains and this has led to losses to our daily sales. The rains start in the morning and go on through the day. The place is flooded and so we cannot sell in such a place since we do not have stalls,” said Rosa Nyabayo who sells second hand clothes and shoes.

“The rains also make some roads impassable and this has contributed to the less number of customers who come to buy from us,” she said.

She further said she cannot buy more stock as she still has the one she bought a week ago.
