Women Enterprise Fund has embarked on giving laptops to their field officers in every constituency countrywide to upscale its activities.
The fund acting chief executive officer Eng. Charles Mwirigi said that the laptops are fixed with softwares that will enable the officers to carry out their work efficiently in the field.
Mwirigi said that information on all self help groups that do business with the fund will be captured and stored electronically.
“With the laptops, our officers will find the job very easy because they will now be able to access information even in the field; they won’t have to wait to come back to the office to respond to some of the queries raised by women groups,” he said.
Speaking in Kisumu on Monday during a training of field officers drawn from Nyanza region, the CEO said that they are in a process of giving out the laptops in all the 290 constituencies.
Mwirigi said that the investment is not in vain as its officers will now double their work and post better results.
He added that the fund has made progress and lauded women for their timely repayment of the loans to enable other groups to be benefit as well.
“Since its inception in 2007, we have given over Kshs. 7 billion to women groups, the repayment has been good,” he said.
Mwirigi announced that the fund has continued to scoop awards as the best managed state corporation with regards to the use of Information Communication and Technology.
