Lari OCS Peter Ouko has urged residents to embrace the Nyumba Kumi security initiative and assist police in the fight against crime.

Speaking at Kago Primary school during a youth empowerment forum on Tuesday, the OCS appealed to the members of the public to partner with the police as they strive to fight crime.

Mr Ouko said security in the area will be realised if the residents adopt the Nyumba Kumi and other community policing strategies that have been initiated by the government.

“We continue to urge members of the public to adopt the security initiatives being introduced by the government so that we can be able to streamline security and fight criminal elements,” he said.

The OCS said several cases of crime have been reported in some parts of the sub-county but assured residents of his commitment to curb crime.

Mr Ouko said police will mount security patrols across Lari to ensure safety of residents and their property.

The OCS on the same note warned criminals saying their days are numbered if they do not quit crime.

“As law enforcers we will comb through every corner and every den to flush out criminal elements,” he said.

Mr Ouko also cautioned youth against taking part in criminal acts. He said some youth were being lured into criminal activities, adding that they too will not be spared.

He asked residents to remain alert and report cases of crime and lawlessness to the police.
