Police in Kamirithu village in Limuru have arrested a middle-aged man and his wife over the theft of household goods.
The couple, aged 26 and 25, were nabbed in their house at Kamirithu village near the Limuru AP camp on Monday.
Confirming the arrest, Limuru Administration Police Commandant Michael Ndegwa said the two are suspected to be behind the theft of household items that have been disappearing from homes in the village.
Ndegwa said that they raided the couple’s house after a tip off from a member of the public.
“We raided the home and recovered many household goods including TV sets, laptops, two home theaters, refrigerators, blankets, clothes among other things, worth thousands of shillings. We believe the items were stolen,” said Ndegwa, when he addressed journalists at the Limuru AP camp on Monday.
Mr Ndegwa said that several residents had reported cases of their homes being broken into and property stolen mysteriously.
He said that the suspects might have been using master keys to break into homes and steal property when the owners were away.
The AP commander said that several residents had identified some of their property that had been reported stolen.
The suspects are being held at the Limuru AP camp and will be arraigned in court once investigations are completed.
The AP commander warned criminals and thieves saying that they will be smoked out.
He urged residents to report cases of crime on time to enable police officers to act on them immediately.
