Several vehicles belonging to the county government of Machakos are grounded in various different private garages in Athi River town.
The vehicles include those which had been under usage of administration police, regular police, the county's inspectorate and those that were assigned to various county staff.
A spot check by this writer who visited a number of garages in the town on Wednesday found out that most of the vehicles have impacts of accidents on them.
James Mwende, a mechanic at a garage said the vehicles had been abandoned at the garage after being taken there by certain county government officials.
Mwende said the officials seemed to had lost interest in the vehicles given that some of them had been seriously damaged after involving in road accidents and their repair was involving and an expensive exercise.
He said the garage alone had more of 15 such vehicles from the same government.
The writer noted that some of the vehicles had their green number plates already removed from them while others had branded colors showing they belong to the government being removed from them.
