A middle-aged man was on Wednesday arraigned before Thika law court for allegedly attempting to rape his mother and being in possession of bhang.

The court heard that on December 23, 2015 Amton Mwiathi attempted to touch Josphine Cianjoka’s private parts at their home in Ciagaku village, Gitareni location of Thika East sub-county.

The court was also told that the accused was found in possession of two rolls and 20 grams of bhang.

Before Senior Principle Magistrate Alfred Kibiru, Mwiathi pleaded not guilty of the charges.

He was released on a 50, 000 bond.

The case will be mentioned on January 11, 2016 and heard on April 11.
