A 30-year-old man is being held at Kaburu police station where he was arrested on Monday afternoon after stealing a herd of 20 goats in Kivaa Masinga, sub-county. 

Confirming the incident Kivaa sub location sub-chief Onesmus Muindi said that the man who hails from Mwea found the goats grazing in a nearby bush and untied them taking them away. 

However, Muindi said that the owner of the goats who had gone to feed them found her goats missing where she raised alarm and started searching for them. 

"The suspect found the goats grazing in a nearby bush where they had been tied, he untied them and took them," said Muindi. 

The suspect nabbed by community policing a few metres from the area where he was handed over to the police. 

The chief disclosed that cases of livestock theft have been on the rise in the area lately. 

The suspect is to be arraigned in court today for charges of stock theft.
